Pinoy rock was just an idea in the ether before the Juan Dela Cruz band existed. But when future rock icons Joey “Pepe” Smith – a prodigious rock drummer and singer, Wally Gonzales, a master of blues-rock guitar, and multi-instrumentalist Mike Hanopol got together to form JDC, the roots of Pinoy Rock took hold.
